Ouch! My Aching Back

Sitting in the parking lot of 7-11 drinking Pellegrino and eating pistachios, I have just had my very first medical massage (IKR?) and I can’t feel my body! Whilst normally a bad thing, when you have been battling pain for over two decades they are the sweetest words in the English language.

The new amazing man in my life is a Russian Jew who could easily be a distant cousin (and as with all modern relationships, we met on Facebook). Hearing about his young family settling into their South Florida web of family, and their particular Jewishness cocktail of both the Russian Orthodox and the American Reform varieties, reconnected me not only with my Jewishness, but my origin story here in Broward.

We moved to Coral Springs in 2010 and settled post-settlement in Parkland in 2012. For all of my complaints about suburban living over the years, the suburbs can be nice places to raise children. I will remain ever grateful for the time spent here.

My son graduates high school next year and I will finally become a full time resident of Key West.  So many impending changes at once sometimes seem overwhelming. But then I think of the home waiting for me at the (literal) end of the road and all I can say is “thank you.”

Namaste
